Bio

When I was six years old, my parents bought a huge, old, heavy used upright from the piano store in town.  When it was delivered, I sat down to play it.  I had no musical training but started to play three notes on the piano that sounded so pretty, I could not stop playing them.  Those three notes became the ending notes to the song Melody America on the CD.  There was something about the motion of pressing of the keys, hearing the notes I just created, the instant gratification, that excited me.  Wow... I did not know what I was playing but it sounded good to me and the people around me.  I was hooked and started taking lessons from the local piano teacher.

I stopped playing for a while during my early years of high school and started to play guitar.  I quickly realized that I enjoyed playing piano.  In college, I majored in music studying piano, voice and choral conducting.  When I graduated I started taking jazz piano lessons.   For a while, I was living the life of a free-lance musician; playing lots of clubs, corporate events and weddings.

Presently, I teach high school music in the East End of Long Island.  I conduct award winning high school choirs; a large general choir, and female and male vocal ensembles.

I love teaching and performing but my passion is composing and songwriting.  Nothing makes me feel more alive than sitting at the piano, "noodling around" and listening as a melody takes shape!

The sudden and tragic loss of a good friend and fellow musician prompted me to start recording these melodies that I have accumulated over the years.  Stories To Be Told is such a natural title for the album because there is a story behind each melody composed.

I hope you enjoy listening to my melodies as much as I enjoyed creating them.
